The Symptoms of Leaky Gut Syndrome
It is not surprising to find out that most doctors would not be able to diagnose leaky gut syndrome. This is due to the numerous manifestations of the said syndrome, making it difficult to categorize as a leaky gut syndrome. Often times, connecting one of its symptoms to another is difficult as individual treatment for every symptom is needed.
Leaky gut syndrome causes the inflammation of the intestinal lining, thus also called increased intestinal permeability. As soon as the intestines become irritated, disturbed functioning of the digestive system could occur. The “leaking” of harmful toxins will soon follow. Harmful toxins in the form of bacteria, parasites, undigested protein, fungi and fat into the bloodstream.
Once these toxins pass through the bloodstream, the body will be triggered to an autoimmune reaction. This means the body will attack its own cells, causing gastrointestinal issues like bloating, cramping and excess gas. Others have also complained about experiencing heartburn, diarrhea and indigestion. The toxins will later infiltrate the organs and more serious implications develop. The affected organs gradually degenerate resulting to other related ailments such as kidney disease, Candida, fibromyalgia, arthritis and acne.
The liver is among the first organs affected by the syndrome. When toxins enter the bloodstream, it is the work of the liver to flush them out of the body. The more toxins, the more work it is for the liver. Thus, if untreated, the liver might not function properly. The same thing also happens to the body’s immune system. An overworked immune system leads to exhaustion and inability to function properly.
Leaky gut syndrome also negatively affects the function of the adrenal glands located on top of the kidneys. The adrenal glands assist in fighting body infections but due to leaky gut syndrome, the glands might experience what is called adrenal fatigue causing poor digestion, lack of concentration and poor stress management.
The symptoms may be hard to direct to leaky gut syndrome. However, understanding what happens inside the body is more than enough to help you cope up. And as soon as the diagnosis is clear, it would be easier to treat the unwanted indications of leaky gut syndrome. It is important as well to get an accurate diagnosis as it allows you to target the symptoms and its roots at the base level. Remember, it is more difficult to treat the problems when it has already worsened. Proper health care should not be neglected, thus professional and personal health care is necessary.
